Open Forum 2020 (6 of 21) v1

The Dobson

Opened in 2017, The Dobson Theatre is a modern, versatile space for music, dance, and presentations/ lectures, with exceptional acoustics, state of the art sound system, full lighting, presentation, and AV facilities.

Designed to host a diverse programme of events for the school, the local community and visiting professional performers, our 300-seat auditorium provides an outstanding creative space.

Our students use the space daily for creative arts lessons, Open Forum events, scholar talks, rehearsals, and performances. For our parent and local community, there are events throughout the year, which are held at the Dobson Theatre, including our whole-school productions (which are held annually) and specialist lectures provided by the Southampton Arts Society, Classics Society, and our history department.

The Dobson Theatre is also used for several special services, to mark occasions such as the Carol Service (December) and Thanksgiving (March). There have also been occasional services to focus the thoughts of the community at times of crisis, collective grief or rejoicing.

The Dobson Theare is frequently used by local organisations including Stagecoach, a local church group and even the Mayflower Theatre. For more information about hiring the Dobson Theatre, please contact dobson@kes.hants.sch.uk
