Tuesday 19 November - Diamonds and Destiny - The Morgenstein Family's Escape
Henry Morgenstein was one of the lucky ones. His family were Jews living in Antwerp when Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933 and then initiated the Final Solution in 1942. Henry, the family historian, has pieced together the story of how his family made it across war-torn Europe before finding safety in America. He is coming into KES to tell the amazing story that includes three escape attempts, many many diamonds, hair-raising close calls, and fleeing to Vichy France, Cuba and finally Manhattan.
