27th March, 7pm: Pete Jones – “The Stormy Blast: The Stories Behind the KES Pupils who went to War”

In 2013, former KES teacher Peter Jones embarked on a mission to uncover and share the poignant histories of our school’s past pupils who went to war. His book, “The Stormy Blast,” is a heartfelt tribute to these brave individuals. Through their personal stories, Peter brings to life the incredible journeys of KES students who transitioned from the familiar school grounds to the battlefields of Europe. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of their sacrifices and the profound impact on the KES community. Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the night.

Thursday 27th March- Autism Awareness with Michael Barton (FOR EDUCATORS)

Thursday 27 March 2025, 4pm- "Autism Awareness with Michael Barton"

Join us for an inspiring talk by Michael Barton, a renowned keynote speaker on autism, Asperger's syndrome, and neurodiversity. With over a decade of experience, Michael has toured the UK, delivered hundreds of talks, and been featured on major media platforms like Channel 4, the BBC, and New Scientist magazine. He even gave a TED talk at TEDxOxford in January 2023!

Michael's dedication has earned him the role of patron at CASPA, a South East London charity supporting autistic individuals through various clubs and a community hub. He is also the author of three insightful books: "It's Raining Cats and Dogs," "A Different Kettle of Fish," and his latest, "What Has Autism Ever Done For Us?"

Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt is a distinguished figure in the fields of artificial intelligence, web science, and open data. As Principal of Jesus College, Oxford, and co-founder of the Open Data Institute alongside Sir Tim Berners-Lee, his contributions have significantly shaped modern computing and data transparency. His extensive research, which spans cognitive psychology, computational neuroscience, and the semantic web, has earned him numerous accolades, including a knighthood for services to science and engineering.
