An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Assistant Duke of Edinburgh Manager to work alongside our Duke of Edinburgh Manager at King Edward VI School. The Duke of Edinburgh programme is hugely valued at the school, and plays a big part in the co-curricular programme. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person with a love of outdoor education and a belief in what these experiences can offer an individual. There are high levels of participation at Bronze and Silver levels at the School with some pupils also achieving the Gold award. We are ideally looking for a September start.
Due to the nature of this role flexibility is required. The role will involve working at weekends and during school holidays. Previous experience in a similar role with knowledge of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, assessment and management system would be desirable. A mountain leader qualification, up to date first aid qualification and a clean driving licence with category D1 entitlement (drivers who passed their car test before 1st January 1997), or a current PSV licence would be an advantage but training can be provided.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Library Manager to join us in our busy library at King Edward VI School. You will be responsible for leading and developing the school library provision in order to provide a high quality, professional library service to all pupils and staff. The library is a modern and bright space at the heart of the school; a busy, vibrant facility that is well used by the school community, supporting both teaching and learning activities.
This is an integral role supported by two part-time Library Assistants. Duties include running the KS3 timetabled reading sessions and research projects, organising our World Book Week celebrations and other Library events, arranging author visits, recruiting library leaders from our pupil body, managing and developing the Library Management System (Heritage Cirqa), organising, classifying and cataloguing all library materials in line with professional standards, and fully engaging with Heads of Department and pupils to ensure academic resources remain relevant and effectively support teaching and learning across the school. An ability to empathise and relate positively to young people and a genuine interest in supporting them to succeed as well as read for pleasure is essential.
You will be a qualified librarian with at least 3 years’ experience (preferably in the education sector). We are looking for an organised individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have excellent customer service skills and be patient and calm under pressure.

The Assistant Network Manager will work closely with the Head of IT to effectively manage the IT Systems at King Edward VI School, Southampton and King Edward VI Preparatory School, Romsey, to include networking, cybersecurity and cloud services. You will be a member of the IT Support Team and provide efficient and effective technical support in a manner consistent with the School’s aims and ethos to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency across our 3 sites. The Assistant Network Manager will take operational responsibility for the development of the School’s network systems and infrastructure, under the direction of the Assistant Head (Digital Strategy) and Head of IT.
The successful candidate will be a highly skilled IT professional who is up to date with current and emerging trends and best practices with an excellent knowledge of wired and wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs and network security. You will have a deep understanding of Microsoft server and desktop environments, including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP. The selected candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent customer service skills and skilled in a technical IT support role, with experience in managing and supporting network infrastructure (access points, switches, firewalls) and familiar with network monitoring tools and diagnostic software.

We are seeking a well-qualified and dynamic Teacher of PE to join our thriving Sports Department on a full-time basis. You would be joining a large department delivering a sports programme that is regularly gaining recognition at regional and in some cases national level.
The department promotes a range of sporting activity through its Physical Education and Games curriculum encouraging students to work to achieve their potential. The ability to teach across the full sporting range is essential and expertise in rugby would be an advantage. Examination PE is a popular subject at both A Level and GCSE and the ability to teach the subject towards GCSE examination is desirable. There could also be the opportunity to deliver at A level for the right candidate.
Teaching takes place within our excellent on-site facilities, including a sports complex with a good-sized sports hall, an all-weather surface, netball courts, rugby pitches, a cricket field with 4 outdoor nets and a newly installed fitness suite. In addition, the school owns an off-site facility of a very high quality. This has over 30 acres of playing fields with a water based astro turf, 4 netball courts, 6 rugby fields and can host up to 8 cricket matches at any one time.

We are seeking a dedicated and well-qualified Head of Rugby to join the Sports Department. As part of a varied job description you will, amongst other tasks, provide dynamic leadership of all aspects of the school’s rugby programme, deliver high quality coaching, support and advise all rugby team coaches, ensure an appropriately competitive fixture list is in place, complete all required administrative tasks in a timely manner, develop touring opportunities for rugby, and continue to develop the support for the provision of rugby in the preparatory school. This role is a teaching position, and you would have a full teaching timetable with responsibility remission for the role.
You should have considerable rugby coaching or playing experience and would either have or be prepared to work towards relevant rugby coaching qualifications. A degree in a sport related subject is preferred but not essential. You will be required to drive a school minibus. If you do not hold a PCV licence the School will pay for the necessary training for you to get the appropriate minibus driving qualification.

We are looking to appoint minibus drivers to join our team. The role is Monday to Friday, term time only. The available shifts are 06:30 – 08:30, 16:00 – 18:00 and 17:30 – 19:30 we welcome applicants who would like to be considered for one or two shifts. You would be responsible for driving one of our 16-seater minibuses to drive students to and from school.

King Edward VI, is a thriving co-educational 11-18 day school and we are looking to recruit a qualified bank nurse to provide medical care at the school. You must be an excellent communicator, effective at building relationships and have a warm, approachable, and calm manner.
As a member of our small team of bank nurses you would provide cover for our current nursing team as and when required.
You will provide to our school community a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care, including First Aid, welfare and health information. Two years minimum qualified experience is essential; experience of working with children and families in a community setting and experience of A&E/minor injuries is desirable.
