We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified, enthusiastic and innovative  Teacher of Drama to join our outstanding Creative Arts Faculty either full or part-time. The successful candidate will teach Drama across all ages at King Edward VI School. Our GCSE students follow the EDUQAS Drama 9-1 specification, which offers a balance of practical and written work. At A Level, students follow the AQA Drama specification.

The Drama department is committed to providing the highest quality teaching and learning experiences for all students and we pride ourselves on the positive impact that we make on students’ lives. The Drama department has a supportive culture fostered in kindness and professional respect with an ethos of creative collaboration where all members of the team are valued.

 Our students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities in our new 400-seat Dobson Theatre, which has been equipped with Dolby surround sound and LED lighting. King Edward’s is one of Hampshire’s leading independent day schools with a mission to transform the office of development. This new role of Director of Development will lead the development function, collaborating with the leadership team to build alumni relations and leverage those contacts and other opportunities to provide funds for the benefit of the School. This is a central role, vital to creating ambitious fundraising goals and producing an innovative fundraising strategy. Specifically, working to activate funding through major donors, trusts and foundation and the wider philanthropy sector.

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraising leader, with demonstrable experience of fundraising and donor relations, with a track record of cultivating and maintaining successful relationships with funders, partners, and donors. You will ideally have experience of development fundraising projects from initial concept to action plan and bid writing and will be able to write high-quality foundation applications. With a deep knowledge of the independent school sector you will become our in-house expert for all things fundraising. Experience of implementing a CRM system would be an advantage.

The selected candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach and be results-orientated with a track record of fundraising success and a proven track record of securing major gifts. In this high-profile role, the Director of Development will be a key contributor in the King Edward’s wider strategy to accelerate additional bursary funding and shape our school at this exciting time of growth and positive strategic change through external relations.

You will be an excellent communicator with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.  Motivation to work to ambitious goals is essential. Working closely with the Head, you will lead by example, emulating the King Edward’s values and ethos and fostering a culture of collaborative cross departmental working with all key stakeholders (including Marketing, Governors, and network members) to collectively achieve strategic priorities and income growth.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Careers Adviser to join us in the Careers Department at King Edward VI School.    You will take an active role in the strategic development of the careers programme at the school, fostering a spirit of positive engagement and enquiry into the world of work and careers amongst the student body. 

Working alongside an HE and Careers Administrator, duties will include managing and developing the Careers Programme, providing advice and support to students, managing the school’s work experience programme and running the annual Careers Fair. 

You will have experience of working in a Careers Department in an education setting, ideally across the full age range.  We are looking for an organised individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. 06.30am – 8.30am and 4.00pm to 6.00pm - term time only

£12 per hour plus benefits

We are looking to appoint a minibus driver/s to join our team. Two shifts are available, Monday to Friday morning shift 06.30am – 08.30am and Monday to Friday evening shift 4.00pm – 06.00pm, during term time only. You would be responsible for driving one of our 16-seater minibuses to drive students to and from school. 

You must hold a clean driving licence with category D1 entitlement (drivers who passed their car test before 1st January 1997), or a current PSV licence.  Previous experience of working with young people would be an advantage.

You must be an excellent communicator, effective at building relationships and have a warm, approachable, and calm manner.

As a member of our small team of bank nurses you would provide cover for our current nursing team as and when required.

2 year fixed-term contract

£21,230 - £23,000 FTE (£18,021.68 - £19,524.19 pro-rata) depending on qualifications and experience

40 hours per week term time including Saturday fixtures and occasional Sunday tournaments, plus 15 days to be worked flexibly during school holidays.  There may, in addition, be the opportunity to accompany sports tours.

King Edward VI School is seeking to employ an outstanding, enthusiastic and committed university graduate with excellent sporting pedigree to assist with the delivery of Sport and PE. Sport plays a significant role in the life of the school and our sports teams play on competitive circuits, regularly featuring at regional stages of competition with some teams progressing to national finals.

Successful candidates will be expected to make a significant contribution to the delivery of PE and games lessons as well as the coaching of sports teams and they will have significant expertise in at least two of our main sports – Rugby, Hockey, Cricket and in particular, Netball.

This is a superb opportunity to gain experience in a busy, thriving sports department and successful candidates will be expected to support all aspects of the department including coaching sport at all levels in the school, running a Saturday sports team in each of the three terms and supporting our elite performers.

This post would be ideal for a graduate who is considering an eventual career in Education or Sports Coaching and is designed to allow graduates to fully experience life in an independent day school.

The post is offered on a two academic year fixed term basis commencing September 2023 across 40 hours per week term time only, including some weekend tournaments. There would be the opportunity to gain further experience at Stroud School, our Preparatory school.
