The Cricketer Magazine launches its first in a series of roadshows at King Edward VI School in Southampton.
More than 60 children from King Edward VI School and Stroud School, King Edward Preparatory attended a Cricket Roadshow on Thursday 9th February.
The event was hosted by King Edward VI School in collaboration with The Cricketer Magazine.
The Cricketer Roadshow is designed to inspire pupils’ awareness of future employment opportunities both on and off the field in professional sport, with a focus on cricket. The roadshow featured a mix of cricket activities and education reflecting The Cricketer’s 102-year history of working in publishing.
The session was led by former Nottinghamshire professional cricketer now Commercial Director of the magazine, Jim Hindson, along with award winning reporter of the year, Nick Friend, and Chief Editor, Huw Turbervill, who shared his experience of 30 years in the industry, including writing for the Telegraph.
The day included an opportunity for pupils to test the latest bats on the market and an interactive Q&A which covered cricket journalism, photography, commercials, social media, digital and print publishing, film and finished with a mock press conference.

It was great to see the pupils here at King Edward VI, Southampton so engaged in the topic. We look forward to rolling this out across the UK this year”
