Junior Science
Junior Science is studied by all Year 7 and Year 8 pupils at King Edward’s and comprises of a selection of topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Junior Science is designed to provide a solid foundation for IGCSE separate sciences and we aim to instil interest and enjoyment for the three sciences through teaching.
By the end of the two years, students will have developed their practical skills, allowing them to carry out their own investigations, to develop an awareness of Science in the world around them and a solid foundation in all three individual sciences.

Year 7
In Year 7, students will study the following topics:
Term 1: Starting Science, Energy
Term 2: Cells, Tissue and Organs, Forces, Particles and Solutions
Term 3: Reproduction, Astronomy
Year 8
In Year 8, students will study the following topics:
Term 1: Atoms and Elements, Waves (Sound and Light)
Term 2: Microbes and Disease, Chemical Reactions
Term 3: The Human Body, Electrical Circuits

Clubs and Societies
Junior Science Club takes place regularly on Thursday lunchtimes and is open to all Year 7 and Year 8 students, providing them with the opportunity to do experiments that don’t usually fit into the syllabus. Typical experiments students can expect are:
- Explosions
- Rocket Balloons
- Heart Dissection
- Imploding Cans
