King Edward's School Welcomes New Chair of Governors
King Edward's School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Geraint Davies BSc FCA as our new Chair of Governors. Geraint, an Old Edwardian, brings an impressive wealth of experience in finance and leadership, having held senior roles at some of the world’s leading accounting firms, including Senior Partner at EY Southampton. He has also served as Chair of Governors at City College, Southampton, and recently retired from his professional career to focus on new ventures.
Geraint is deeply connected to KES, not only as a former student but also as a parent of three daughters, two of whom attended KES, and two of whom attended KES Prep (formerly known as Stroud). He graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Economics and Accounting, and his professional journey has taken him across the UK, Switzerland, the Channel Islands, and Malta. Now, as Chair of Governors and a member of both the Finance and the Buildings, Grounds, and Infrastructure Committees, Geraint will bring his extensive knowledge and leadership skills to help steer KES through the next chapter of its development.
Geraint succeeds Alan Morgan, who stepped down at the end of August after seven remarkable years in the role. Under Alan's guidance, the school successfully navigated significant challenges and continued to thrive. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact, and the school is immensely grateful for his service.
Alan Morgan shared "My period as Chair was undoubtedly challenging, but also immensely rewarding. So much has changed in such a short period of time and it has been a privilege to work with such a talented team at both schools to ensure that we continue to offer the very best educational experience for our students both now and for the years to come. I am delighted to welcome Geraint as my successor and I look forward to working closely with him to ensure a seamless transition. Our schools are in safe hands and I wish Geraint every success"
Neal Parker, Head, said "Alan's commitment to KES has been truly exceptional. His steady leadership, especially during difficult times including Covid, provided us with the guidance and confidence we needed to continue to deliver the best education possible. On behalf of the entire school community, I extend my deepest gratitude to Alan for his tireless service and for everything he has done to make KES what it is today. As we warmly welcome Geraint, we look forward to his leadership as we continue to uphold the highest educational standards at KES."
Speaking about his new role, Geraint said: "I feel incredibly privileged to take on the role of Chair of Governors at King Edward’s School, a place that has always held a special place in my heart. I am excited to work with the Governors and the school’s leadership to maintain and enhance King Edward's position as a leading independent school, ensuring our students receive the best education possible in an ever-changing world."
We look forward to the exciting journey ahead under Geraint’s leadership and wish everyone at KES a successful and rewarding term.
