KES Community Delivers 90 Shoeboxes for International Christmas Appeal

29 October 2026

Pupils, staff and families at King Edward VI School have once again demonstrated their generosity by filling 90 shoeboxes as part of the Wessex Rotary Shoebox Scheme, helping to bring Christmas joy to disadvantaged and displaced children across Eastern Europe.

The shoeboxes, packed with carefully selected gifts and essential items, will be distributed to children in Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Ukraine through the longstanding charitable initiative organised by Wessex Rotary Shoebox Scheme.

Each box was filled with a range of age-appropriate items, including toys, stationery, toiletries, hats, gloves and other practical gifts. By contributing to the appeal, members of the KES community have helped ensure that children facing poverty, displacement and hardship will receive a special gift this Christmas.

The completed shoeboxes were recently handed over for delivery, marking the culmination of a school-wide effort that saw pupils and families come together to support the appeal. The 90 boxes will join thousands of others collected across the region and transported overseas in time for Christmas. Last year alone, the scheme delivered around 18,000 shoeboxes from its warehouse in Christchurch.

The school's involvement reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting charitable causes both locally and internationally, while encouraging pupils to think about the needs of others and the positive impact that even small acts of generosity can have.

Thank you to everyone who donated items, packed shoeboxes and helped make this year's appeal such a success.
