Bright Futures Emerge as A Level Success Shines through
Much like yesterday’s once-in-a-lifetime eclipse, today offered a rare and memorable moment for Sixth Form students at King Edward VI School receiving their A Level results.
With temperatures soaring so were the grades:
95.8% of students achieved grades A*-C,
82% achieved grades A*-B, and
53.3% achieved grades A*-A.
Commenting on the results, King Edward VI Head, Neal Parker, said:
“I couldn’t be prouder of our Sixth Form students today. Another excellent set of A Level results demonstrates that our approach to education at King Edward’s continues to deliver academic excellence. These achievements reflect the countless hours of hard work and perseverance shown by our students, supported every step of the way by our exceptional staff.
While today’s results rightly deserve celebration, I am equally proud of the young people behind the grades. We are committed to developing independent thinkers, confident learners and responsible citizens, and I am certain that the students receiving their results today are well equipped to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond. I wish them every success as they embark on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
Top of the class
Alongside a 4.7% increase in individual students achieving three or more A-A* results, nine students were also celebrating a clean sweep of A* grades, including two candidates who received four A* grades this year.
One of those students, Cary, who achieved four A* grades in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, said on receiving his results:
“It means a lot. It’s two years’ worth of hard work, and it’s nice to see them culminate.”

Cary is going on to study Mechanical Engineering at Bath University. Reflecting on the results, Cary also offered some advice to those beginning their A Level journey this year:
“I’d say try and have fun. It’s going to be hard work if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing. Start working hard early and you’ll get what you want to achieve.”
